About Jennifer Prothow

Jennifer Prothow is a Houston native that moved to Wallis, Texas in 1999 when she was 14 years old. She joined the Marines and was stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina at New River Air Base. She served 5 years and was deployed to Africa and Afghanistan. After leaving the military she obtained an AAS in network security from Houston Community College and later attended Texas Tech University.

Wine making became a hobby she picked up in order to help adjust to life after the military. Making wine has been therapeutic, it helps her relax and she takes tremendous pride in perfecting the process. Jennifer began studying wine making in 2014 but did not make her first batch until 2016. She fell in love with the process and joy that it brought her by completing a batch.  She chose fruit wine because she loves the different flavors that it could bring into the wine. Blackberry wine is the staple of her winery because they grow naturally in Texas.

Her future plans are to continually play with making wines out of fruits, exotic fruits and blending fruit wines with grape wine. One that she’s looking forward to the most is Cranberry wine, Peach and a Peach and Mango blend, Dragon fruit are all wines she’s planning to make.

Jennifer named her company ErmaRose after her grandmothers by combining both their names. They are both great influences in her life and naming the company after them seems like the best way to honor them. The ErmaRose Signature collection of wines includes Banana, Blackberry, Blueberry, Mango and Quadberry.

She’s an avid Astros fan, she also enjoys fishing, spending time with family and watching movies in her spare time.
